Vestibular rehabilitation

My goal in treating dizzy patients is to get them back to normal, or almost normal, so they can do everyday activities without feeling dizzy. Although the aim appears to be simple, the process is not. According to my personal experience, patients who suffer from chronic dizziness are driven by a number of factors. If one issue is resolved but another remains, the problem is not totally resolved.

The three approaches of vestibular rehabilitation are as follows:
1.The adaptation exercise is to promote in the adaptation of the vestibular system that is still functioning. Patients who have gaze instability or abnormal vestibulo-ocular reflex (VOR) gain may benefit from adaption training. VOR 1 target exercise from Michigan Medicine is shown here as an example.
Start the VOR x 1 target exercise by sitting in a chair with your arm straight and your eye fixed on your thumb or the target "X."  While keeping your eye on the target, move your head from side to side. You can use a metronome application to create a rhythm rate while turning your head; the pace can range from 80 to 100 beats per minute or more, depending on your abilities. You may feel dizzy at first, but as you become used to the slow pace, you can raise it. Exercise for 1-2 minutes three to four times a day.
